KARACHI: Ziauddin University (ZU) has recently launched Pakistan's 1st Virtual Reality (VR) dental simulator in a Grand Launch Ceremony.
Dr Mervyn Moin Hossein, Principal, College of Dentistry, ZU, moderated the inaugural ceremony.
Dr Asim Hussain, Chancellor, ZU, Mr James Markey, Global Head of Operations, HRV Simulations, Dr Abbas Zafar, Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, ZU, Prof. Dr Syed Mahmood Haider, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Ziauddin Hospital and Dr Nida Hussain, Pro-Chancellor, ZU graced the event with their presence and speeches.
Dr Asim Hussain has gifted this 5-unit Virteasy Dental Haptic Simulator for dental students. The type of VR is currently available in only forty universities worldwide.
Virtual Reality, a three-dimensional teaching tool, has been used across healthcare as a means of both education and guidance. Through VR, learners can experience visual stimuli delivered via computer graphics and other sensory events. It can also provide the hands-on experience required to acquire expertise and comfort in performing procedures in a safe and controlled setting.
