TAXILA: The Dental College HITEC-IMS teams bagged second and third positions in both quiz and poster competitions recently held at Foundation University Dental College.
Different colleges from Islamabad and Rawalpindi participated in the contest.
In the quiz competition, the Dental College HITEC-IMS team, comprising Arooba Mehmood and Ayesha Sadiq, bagged second place, while in the poster contest, the team comprising Huda Habiba and Shabah Zahra from the college stood third.
Dr Azka Haroon, a faculty member specialising in Oral Pathology, played a pivotal role in representing the college.
The quiz competition consisted of four rounds. The preliminary round included all participants, while the second and third rounds led to the elimination of two teams in each round. The top two teams surviving these eliminations advanced to the final round.
The poster competition’s judging criteria encompassed content, presentation, and creativity.
Dental College HITEC-IMS teams bagged positions for producing well-researched, informative, and effectively presented posters.
The teams thanked the organizers for providing them with the valuable opportunity to show their skills.
They also thanked Principal Dr Irfan Shah, administrative officer Maj Azhar and Research Cell’s Dr Shahreen Zahid for their support.
Meanwhile, Maarij Saeed, a student of the Dental College HITEC-IMS, stood second in the 12th Annual Shifa Scholars Day poster competition with her poster on the topic of ‘Comparative efficacy of mandibular advancement devices (MADs) in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA): a network meta-analysis’. The contest was participated by over 130 contestants from different institutes across Pakistan.
The participation of Maarij Saeed and four other students from HITEC-IMS was facilitated by the Students Research Society of the medical and dental colleges.
Maarij Saeed’s poster was shortlisted, along with 84 other posters out of 135 entries from 14 medical and dental colleges.
Dr Wajeeha Mahjabeen and Dr Shahreen Zahid, heads of the research cells in the medical and dental colleges, facilitated the participation of the HITEC-IMS students in the contest.
