By Our Staff Reporter Karachi: Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan said here that Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) will become the first state-of-the-art cancer treatment centre of its kind in Pakistan within six months when it would be provided with Cyclotron Unit for the treatment of cancer patients. Dr Ebad, who visited the JPMC the other day, spoke high of the hospital’s doctors, saying they have served the people in difficult time and most of them are senior faculty members. Sindh Health Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, Commissioner Karachi Asif Haider Shah, Executive JPMC’s executive director Prof Dr Anis Bhatti, Dr Seemin Jamali, Dr Jawaid Jamali, Prof Tariq Mehmood, Dr Suelman, Dr Yahya Khan Tunio and other senior faculty members were present during the governor’s visit to the health facility. Lauding the role of Patient AID Foundation, the governor said that people’s confidence on the JPMC is a sign of its success. Appreciating the diagnostic facilities available in the hospital for poor patients, he said that more measures were required for further improving patients’ care at the hospital. He directed the JPMC administration to provide food and medicines to patients free of cost, besides ensuring cleanliness in the hospital. He assured his full cooperation to the hospital’s administration for smooth functioning of the health facility. Speaking on the occasion, provincial health minister Mehtab Hussain Dahar deplored that patients have been facing problems due to shortage of staff in JPMC. He, however, informed the governor that efforts are under way to upgrade small hospitals so as to minimize the burden on major hospitals across the province.
