Pakistani Dentist enlightens APDC-Dubai on Eco-Friendly Dentistry
During the Asia Pacific Dental Congress (APDC-2014), held recently in Dubai, a highly learned lecturer Dr. Sumera Asif, from the Department of Community Dentistry at Sir Syed College of Medical Sciences Karachi presented an insightful paper on "Green Dentistry" and it's revolutionary impact on the dental practice and long term protective effects on the earth's environment.
Dr. Sumera discussed the major issues related to Mercury Hazards. It was a two way communication session and was appreciated by all the Dental Presidents of Asia Pacific countries.
The conference also helped to encouraged multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary linkages between Pakistan and other countries. This was achieved not only through conference proceedings, but also through social events in Dubai, including; exhibitions, welcoming receptions, knowledge sharing sessions and a Gala Dinner. Dr Sumera's effort was greatly applauded by Prof. H.R. Sukhia (Principal-Dental SSCMS) and Mr. Danish Sheikh, (Director BDS, SSCMS), as well as by all the senior dental faculty and students.
A Booklet on Green Dentistry was also published during the congress, which includes many articles submitted by some prominent dental surgeons. Copies of this booklet were also distributed amongst the participants who had come to attend the session from numerous countries around the globe.
