Eminent dental surgeon Dr Inayatullah Padhiar and a prominent industrialist Mr Ishtiaq Ahmed Roomi were honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Awards in recognition of their valuable services and contribution made by them in their respective fields.
Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, who was chief guest at an oath-taking ceremony of Pakistan Dental Association (Sindh Chapter), gave away the prestigious awards to both Dr Padhiar and Mr Roomi on behalf of the PDA. All those present on the occasion gave a standing ovation to both Dr Padhiar and Mr Roomi upon their receiving the Lifetime Achievement Awards. Dr Inayatullah Padhiar, better known as Inayat Bhai, is symbol of humbleness in the dental profession. He has been guiding force for many and is the man behind Journal of Pakistan Dental Association (JPDA) and most of the dental conferences held in Pakistan. He teaches at Fatima Jinnah and Dental College and is a selfless teacher and a dentist. Mr Ishtiaq Ahmed Roomi has been a part and parcel of the dental profession for over four decades. He is the one who brought Sensodyne to Pakistan and still manufactures it for GSK. The PDA's colourful ceremony, held here the other day at the Arts Council of Pakistan was largely attended by dental surgeons, educationists from across the country and elite of the city. Speaking on the occasion, PDA (Sindh Chapter) president and general secretary, Dr Mahmood Shah and Dr Syed Shah Faisal, respectively, felicitated Dr Padhiar and Mr Roomi, saying that both of them had rendered valuable services in their respective fields. The programme was conducted Dr Talha M. Siddiqui.
