Anthony Hoskins, resident of Thornhill, Southampton, was recently found dead in his apartment after he hanged himself to liberate himself of the excruciation pain of wisdom tooth disease.
Hoskins was placed on NHS’s waiting list to receive treatment for his toothache; he was told that the waiting period could last up to several weeks.
His mother, Shirley, while speaking of her son’s toothache and subsequent death informed that Anthony had first complained of the pain in his wisdom tooth in January. Gradually, his condition deteriorated, and at one point it became unbearable. Shirley told that when her son told her that he had had enough of the pain, while they waited for their turn for treatment by NHS, she also started to save for a private treatment, which would have cost around £1500. The deceased’s mother had only been able to save £900 until her son’s passing away.
‘He enjoyed playing computer games and had no financial problems. His rent was always paid, along with other utilities, and he would see me weekly.’ Ms Hoskins added: ‘The really sad thing is that it cost me almost the same amount of money to pay for his death that it would have to have private dental treatment.’ After not hearing from her son for a few days, Ms Hoskins called the police, who had to force entry into his top floor flat.
Unfortunately, Anthony who had run out of patience and tolerance toward his worsening pain decided to take his own life instead of waiting for his mother save enough, or for NHS to call him.
