YORKSHIRE: An animal dentist of Yorkshire has recently dared to remove a broken tooth from a sore-headed bear that weighs 600 kilograms.
Dr Peter Kertesz extracted a canine of Sisu, a three-year-old polar bear, after an hour-long operation. Not only did he remove the tooth and save a 1,322lb bear of severe infection, but he created a new canine for the bear.
A dental team, including Dr Kertesz, Monika Mazurkiewicz, a dental nurse and a vet anesthesiologist, operated on the Yorkshire Wildlife Park's bear.
Dr Kertesz said in that standard procedure; they had cleaned out the infected root canal of over three inches (7.6 cm) long, filled in the canine, built, shaped and placed the tooth again. Sisu would have a functioning tooth for the rest of his life, he added.
