KARACHI: The Sindh Health Department has issued a advisory regarding the rising flu virus in Karachi.
According to the Department of Health, there is a growing number of cases of cold, cough, and fever attributed to the emergence of a new strain of influenza. Vulnerable groups, such as pregnant women, children, and individuals aged 65 and above, may be at higher risk of contracting the virus.
In response to this situation, the health department has mandated that infected patients be isolated within hospitals.
The Sindh Health Department earnestly appeals to the general public to adopt preventive measures. These include covering one's nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, thorough handwashing with antibacterial soap or hand wash, and refraining from touching the eyes, nose, and mouth. In addition, maintaining a nutritious diet, ensuring adequate sleep, and staying physically active are recommended practices to safeguard one's health.
The Health Department has also issued a directive for those afflicted by the flu to remain at home for a minimum of 24 hours until the fever subsides, while also advocating for proper ventilation in enclosed spaces.
Citizens are strongly advised to limit their interactions with large gatherings, maintain a healthy diet, get sufficient rest, and stay physically active. Wearing a face mask when coughing or sneezing is highly encouraged, and individuals affected by the virus should avoid unnecessary travel.
