1 Dental College for Balochistan, 48 for the rest of Pakistan



ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has approved one dental college for Balochistan while 48 dental colleges in Punjab, Sindh and KP are currently functional.

As per details, currently, there is only one Bolan Medical College in Balochistan while existing President of PMDC Shabbir Lehri belongs to Balochistan. Only one dental college is giving education of dentistry in the province.



On the other hand, there are 9 dental colleges in KPK, 21 in Punjab and 18 in Sindh. Besides this, the registration of 8 new dental colleges is under process.

The 8 new dental colleges which are currently under process include 4 colleges in Punjab, 2 colleges in KPK, one in Sindh and one in Balochistan which is yet to be approved by PMDC.

As per official document, there are 4 dental college in Peshawar, 4 in Abbottabad and 1 in Mardan while 7 in Punjab which include 3 in Lahore, 2 in Rawalpindi, 1 in Multan and I in Sheikhupura and 4 in federal capital Islamabad.

“There are 14 dental colleges in Sindh which include 1 in Karachi, 1 in Mirpur Khas, 1 in Larkana, 1 in Jamsharo and 1 in Hyderabad”, the document added.
