LAHORE: The Pakistan Association of Orthodontists (PAO) and the Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) Lahore jointly organized a transformative hands-on workshop on Surgical Prediction Tracing at de’Montmorency College of Dentistry, Lahore. The session, attended by around 35 orthodontic professionals from Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad, provided advanced training in one of the most critical aspects of orthognathic surgery planning.

This highly anticipated workshop was conducted under the expert guidance of Professor Dr. Muhammad Ilyas, Head of Orthodontics at de’Montmorency College of Dentistry and Dean of FJIDS, Lahore. Supporting him as key facilitators were Associate Professor Dr. Asmi Shaheen and Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Azeem. The event marked the first official collaboration between PAO and PDA Lahore, setting a precedent for future joint academic ventures.

Empowering Orthodontists with Advanced Skills

Surgical Prediction Tracing plays a crucial role in orthognathic treatment planning, enabling orthodontists to predict post-surgical facial skeletal changes with precision. This hands-on session provided participants with an in-depth understanding of facial profile analysis, diagnostic techniques, and treatment execution strategies.

Dr. Muhammad Azeem, an active member of PDA Lahore, contributed both as a facilitator and as a key representative of PDA Lahore. The PDA Lahore team, including Dr. Tahir Mahmood, Dr. Shahzad Malik, and Dr. M. Azeem, actively participated in engaging with attendees and ensuring the smooth execution of the session.

PDA Lahore’s Commitment to Advancing Dental Education

Speaking at the event, Dr. Tahir Mahmood, President of PDA Lahore, welcomed participants and expressed his gratitude to Prof. Dr. Ilyas and the entire faculty for conducting this skill-enhancing workshop. He reaffirmed PDA Lahore’s dedication to fostering professional excellence by supporting PAO in delivering more such academic initiatives.

“Modern orthodontics is evolving rapidly, and it is essential that we incorporate the latest techniques and technologies into our practice. PDA Lahore is committed to facilitating continued professional education for the dental community,” stated Dr. Tahir Mahmood.

In response, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ilyas extended his appreciation to PDA Lahore for its collaboration and support in fostering professional growth and innovation in orthodontics.

A Stepping Stone for Future Collaborations

The success of this workshop highlights the growing need for specialized training programs in Pakistan’s dental community. With an overwhelming response from participants, both PAO and PDA Lahore plan to continue this momentum by organizing similar workshops in the future.

By bridging the gap between theory and practice, this initiative has taken a significant step toward refining the expertise of orthodontic professionals and ensuring better patient outcomes.
