PDA Lahore Mentorship Program: A resounding success in dental career guidance

LAHORE: The Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) Lahore Mentorship Program proved to be an overwhelming success, attracting more participants than anticipated and delivering profound insights into the evolving landscape of dental education and career opportunities. Led by the distinguished Prof. Dr. M. Waheed ul Hamid, the session provided young dentists with invaluable guidance on postgraduate pathways, professional excellence, and global career prospects in dentistry.

Initially planned for 15 participants, the mentorship session saw an exceptional turnout of 22 enthusiastic attendees, eager to gain wisdom from one of Pakistan’s most respected orthodontists. The session, originally scheduled for an hour, stretched to over two hours due to the interactive discussions and deep engagement from participants.

Prof. Dr. M. Waheed ul Hamid, an Ex-Principal and Head of the Orthodontics Department at de’Montmorency College of Dentistry, First Project Director & Dean at Fatima Jinnah Institute of Dental Sciences Lahore, and Founder Member of PAO, led the discussion with unmatched expertise. Addressing crucial questions, he elaborated on:

  • Career prospects for dentists in Pakistan and abroad
  • Steps to excel in general dental practice
  • Pathways to postgraduate education and specialization
  • Essential skills and professional development strategies
  • Participants actively engaged with thought-provoking queries, making the session highly informative and inspiring for young dental professionals.

This successful mentorship initiative was conducted under the vision and leadership of PDA Centre President Dr. Khurshid Ahmed. PDA Lahore President Dr. Tahir Mahmood, along with key office bearers Dr. Asifa Iqbal, Dr. Abdul Rashid, Dr. Shahzad, and Dr. Muhammad Azeem, played a pivotal role in organizing and ensuring the event’s success.

In appreciation of Prof. Dr. Waheed ul Hamid’s valuable contribution, PDA Lahore presented him with a souvenir as a token of gratitude. The session concluded on a high note with a delightful high tea, hosted by dental consultants' team, fostering networking and camaraderie among participants.
