KARACHI - In the wake of advancing dental practice, a CDE session- Cure and Care- was held recently at Bahria University Medical and Dental College. It was organized by Dr. Saman Hakim Arian, Head of the Department of Prosthodontics and Dr. Tabassum Ahsan, Head of the Department of Orthodontics. The session enlightened different aspects of dentistry and disseminated valuable knowledge to the undergraduate students and dental faculty at BUMDC.
The guest speaker for Orthodontics was Assistant Professor Dr. Sarwat Memon - a postgraduate from the Department of Orthodontics at Ziauddin College of Dentistry. She spoke on the importance of the specialty of Orthodontics and presented various cases to improve treatment planning, clinical skills and management .
The guest speakers for Prosthodontics were Assistant Professor Dr. Atif Jawad, Head of the Department of Prosthodontics at Bhittai Dental College and Dr. Mehmood Hussain, Head of the Department of Prosthodontics at Hamdard University Dental Hospital.
While speaking on“Listening Skills for the Clinician”, Dr. Mehmood laid emphasis on a dentist’s interpersonal and communication skills to ensure delivery of high quality health care to the patient. Dr. Atif Jawad gave an insight on the applications of prosthetics in dentistry.
At the end of the session, the eminent speakers were given honorary shields by Director General Vice Admiral (Retd) Tahseen Ullah Khan,Brig (Retd) Professor Dr Shaheen Moin - Principal and Dean Faculty of Health Sciences , and Dr. Kulsoom Fatima - Principal Dental Section and Head of the Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry.
CDE sessions are deemed important in the professional nurturing of dental students , faculty and practitioners. Bahria University continues to strive for achieving excellence in professional education.
