LAHORE: The Primary and Secondary Healthcare Minister Dr Jamal Nasir has directed the Provincial Quality Control Board (PQCB), Punjab, to help create a conducive and competitive environment for pharmaceutical companies, besides ensuring drug quality in the market.
The minister was addressing a PQCB meeting held to review the pending cases of pharma companies regarding drug quality.
The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Ammara Khan, Additional Secretary Dr Qalandar Khan and PQCB Secretary Dr Munawar Hayat, besides board members.
Dr Jamal Nasir said the Board may present a report on its five-year performance in the next meeting.
He said the pharma companies' cases should be decided in time and on merit, as per the provisions of the Drugs Act, avoiding rid tape.
He added that a foolproof mechanism should be in place for redressal of the grievances of the pharma companies.
Later, the minister visited the offices of the WHO, Unicef and the Emergency Operation Centre for Polio Eradication and got briefed on various programmes and targets achieved
So far for polio eradication.
He thanked the WHO for its cooperation for polio eradication and provision of international-quality vaccines for protection against viral diseases, especially lauding its role during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr Jamshed, in charge of DWO Punjab, Dr Abdi Nasir, team leader for polio eradication, Dr Rashida Bano, technical focal person for polio-eradication and others were present.
