LAHORE: In light of the alarming spread of conjunctivitis throughout Punjab, authorities have taken swift action by announcing the closure of all public and private schools for tomorrow. The highly contagious pink eye disease has reached epidemic proportions in the region, posing a significant risk to school students.
Upon the directive of the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, it has been decided that educational institutions across the province will remain closed tomorrow. Starting from Monday, teachers will conduct health checks at the main entrances, and students affected by conjunctivitis will not be permitted to attend school.
In response to the conjunctivitis outbreak, the District Education Authority had previously issued a notice to teachers and students, urging them to exercise special precautions when displaying symptoms of the disease.
Dr. Yahya, the Medical Superintendent at Jinnah Hospital, emphasized that comprehensive arrangements have been put in place to provide medical care to conjunctivitis patients. He urged affected individuals to consult medical professionals rather than attempting self-treatment.
Both the health department and the district administration have advised parents to exercise caution when sending their children to school to prevent further transmission of the disease.
