Bahria University Medical and Dental College Convocation Held

Karachi: The 5th MBBS and 2nd BDS Convocation of Bahria University Medical & Dental College (BUMDC) was held to commemorate the academic accomplishments of students. The students were honored with Gold and Silver Medals, along with Merit Certificates for their outstanding achievements in their academic career at the Convocation.


Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi NI (M) graced the occasion as Chief Guest and conferred degrees upon 133 graduating doctors; Principal and Dean of Health Sciences took the oath.


Degrees, merit certificates and medals were awarded to the winners by Naval Chief, whereas degrees to remaining graduates were awarded by Rector, Bahria University.


While extending felicitations to the graduates on their achievements, the Chief of Naval Staff stated that he was glad that BUMDC has reached a prestigious level of maturity, with special focus on grooming and capacity building of the faculty and students. He advised the graduates to be of sterling character, with a positive attitude towards life, and sacrifice personal gains for the national interests.



Naval Chief appreciated the contributions of BUMDC, in imparting requisite education and further added that, Medical Sciences are going through a phase of rapid evolution with advancements taking place in the fields of biological sciences and allied technologies. Therefore, Medical and Dental institutions, their faculty and students,  must work together to continuously upgrade the curricula, skills-sets, pedagogical approaches and transform their environment to be more learner-friendly and research-oriented. It is only then we can reach the pinnacle of success.


Earlier, in his welcome addressVice Admiral (R) Muhammad Shafique HI (M), Rector Bahria University, extended his gratitude to the medical & dental graduates on their commitment and dedication in achieving successfully this milestone.

It is committed to its journey of academic excellence and will continue to strive for progress in the fields of medical, dental, physical therapy, Lab technologies and nursing in terms of education and research.


Rector Bahria University stated with pride that, all their educational programs are fully endorsed by regulatory authorities whether it is Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) or Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC). PhD in Basic Health Sciences, MD/MS programs in Clinical Health Sciences, Establishment of Institute of Postgraduate Health Sciences and Colleges of Pharmacy and Biotechnology are some of our future goals.


The convocation ceremony was attended by senior officials of the education sector, Naval Officers and parents of the graduating doctors.
