KARACHI- Sir Syed College of Medical Sciences at a ceremony welcomed admissions of new medical and dental students recently. Prof H.R. Sukhia (Vice-Principal SSCMS & Head of Dental Section), and Prof. M.H. Osmani addressed the gathering at the Collage's Clifton Basic sciences campus.
The students were later taken around to the various departments.
H.R. Sukhia stressed the importance of woman education in Pakistan, stating that women consist of 57% of the population, and should therefore be encouraged to seek higher education for the betterment of the family and society, stating further that SSCMS graduates are nowadays serving throughout the country with zeal and dedication, that indicates the uplift of women's status.
Acting Principal Prof. Osmani said that Sir Syed college is a unique institution where only girls are admitted, thereby giving greater opportunity to the women folks seeking education in the country and took the oath to abide by rules and regulation of KMDC and PMDC.
The ceremony concluded with a tour of the Dental Hospital. –PR g to him, DUHS has provided all possible facilities for creating pharmacists at par with the international standards. He also advised the students to respect their parents and teachers alike.
Prof Dr Sumbul Shamim, Principal, Dow College of Pharmacy, in her welcome address gave a brief overview of Dow College of Pharmacy. She said that DCOP had been established to provide highly competitive pharmaceutical education to its students.
Later on, Dr. Qaiser Waheed, former chairman of PPA offered vote of thanks, and lastly, Prof. Dr Umer Farooq and Dr Sumbul Shamim presented DUHS memento to the chief guest and guest of honor.
