LAHORE: Dr Riaz Ahmed Warraich was recently appointed as the Principal University College of Dentistry (UCD), The University of Lahore.
Prof. Dr Riaz Ahmed Warraich, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMFS) in Pakistan, has been awarded a PhD from King Edward Medical University and Fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery from Hannover Medical School, Germany. He is also a fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Bangladesh. He has been bestowed the Fellowship of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. He has completed his Masters in Dental Surgery (MDS) from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad. He has also completed MCPS in OMFS.
Prof. Dr Warraich was the pioneer in establishing the department of OMFS at the King Edward Medical University/ Mayo Hospital, Lahore, in 1998. He was also at the forefront of the Organ Transplant Unit at PIMS, Islamabad, in 2013. His services to the nation also include extensive up-gradation of the intensive care unit, an extension of the Accident and Emergency department and the establishment of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Islamabad. His accomplishment has helped hundreds of patients, and even today, people are being treated for oral and maxillofacial problems at the department whose base was laid by him.
The institute's administration, faculty, and students have been privileged to have Prof. Warraich as the Principal of the dental college.
