LAHORE: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) has announced to end the of their 14-day strike in public hospitals across the province of Punjab, following a directive from the Lahore High Court to end the strike and assurances of their safety.

The decision came after a late-night meeting of the YDA General Council, where extensive deliberations took place. It was resolved that the Health Department would take necessary remedial actions, with court protection sought for the doctors.

Moreover, Acting Chief Justice Shujaat Ali Khan of the Lahore High Court has ordered the Young Doctors Association (YDA) to halt their strike with immediate effect.

During hearings on the Sahiwal Hospital incident inquiry, the court emphasized that doctors' presence should be in hospitals, not in courtrooms. The Acting Chief Justice urged the YDA to fulfill their duty, requesting assurance that the strike would promptly end. The YDA president assured that the issue would be discussed within the doctors' council.

Furthermore, the YDA has decided to present their demands through legitimate channels in court and has called for a judicial inquiry into the Sahiwal incident.

Sources indicate that the YDA has received assurances from the court regarding the lifting of suspensions imposed on doctors and discussions on their extension.
