KARACHI: Students’ excellence award ceremony’2022 was organised for the first time in the history of LCMD. The idea was coined by none other than the college’s Principal Prof Dr Navid Rashid Quershi and he entrusted Department of Health Professions Education (Incharge DHPE- Dr Yusra Nasir, Demonstrator Dr Sabaa Shahid & Officer Mr Moiz Majid) to execute it. 

All these efforts were done to celebrate and appreciate the learner’s milestones under continuous facilitation and guidance of dedicated faculty.

The student selection criteria were very complex and detailed, formulated by DHPE. Out of 100% scoring, 50% was taken as internal evaluation from each department, 30% scoring was given by departmental faculty and dental assistants and student affairs department, the remaining 20% from the online quiz arranged by Department of Health Professions Education compiled from MCQS taken from each department. The students from each year who outshined in terms of knowledge , skills and attitude were awarded the gold medal . The parents of the gold medalists accompanied them on the stage while receiving their medals.

The award title “budding star of LCMD” was chosen for 1st and 2nd year BDS and “exceptional student of the year” was chosen for 3rd and final year BDS

Professor Dr Syed Yawar Ali Abidi (Dean, Faculty of dentistry and Head of department Operative dentistry in Jinnah Sindh Medical University) graced the event as the chief guest and he delivered motivational messages to the students through his speech. 

The theme of the event was Iqbal Day, therefore, students from all BDS years participated in live sketching, poetry to give tribute to his teachers and department.
& displayed their singing talent to keep the audience entertained. 

The event was well-appraised by the invited Chief Guest and all faculty members.
