Rawalpindi: Dental education department Margalla Dental College organised a seminar for its students, house officers and faculty in collaboration with GSK Consumer Healthcare Pakistan Limited.
Principal Prof Dr Amjad Mahmood, Vice Principal Prof Dr Shakir Khan, Dr Nazim Farooq and other senior faculty graced the event with their presence. Dr Sidra Azeem, Head of the Department of Periodontology, shared valuable information and her experiences with the audience. The participants' queries regarding the correct diagnosis and treatment options were addressed. The primary purpose of the seminar was to inform students and house officers about tooth sensitivity, gum health, and available treatments. Teeth sensitivity and bleeding gums are among the most common complaints reported at dental OPDs every day. Spreading awareness, especially prevention and oral hygiene instructions, positively impacts patients' oral health, besides treating oral diseases. Oral health plays a significant role in an individual's general health and well-being.
A representative from GSK discussed the mechanisms of action for Parodontax and Sensodyne and the studies conducted to determine their effectiveness. A kiosk was set up to perform sensitivity tests among dental students and dentists. At the conclusion, souvenirs were distributed to the attendees.
