KARACHI- The PDA (CC) Elections have been postponed and a new date will be announced soon. Talking to Dental News Prof Waheed ul Hameed informed that the elections which were scheduled for December 20th have been delayed because on the instructions of the Chief Election Commissioner Justice Retd. Afzaal Haider, PDA has sought clarification from the Sindh High Court about voters list. Dr. Waheed said that it is his earnest desire to hold free and fair elections where all the 15000 dentists from Pakistan are eligible to vote and select a panel which is a true representative of the dental fraternity in Pakistan. He also confirmed that most of the procedural work including the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner has already been done. The next hearing is now in January and hopefully a new date will be announced then. However, officially, two panels have announced to participate in the upcoming PDA elections - one headed by Dr Saqib Rashid and the other is the Pakistan United Dental. It is expected that there will be another panel from Punjab by the time new date is announced. nder an interim set-up, he said. "Now the chairman, vice-chairman and the executive committee will conduct the council election under an interim set-up," Dr Sherwani remarked. He said the executive committee made another committee to conduct the election on October 3 in violation of Section 36B of the PMDC (Amendment) Act 2012. "Dr Husain and his group in the executive committee were forcing the PMDC president to resign so that he can conduct the election on his whims," Dr Sherwani said.
