KARACHI- Dow Dental College Graduates & Students Parents Action Committee, strongly condemned the Dow Dental College’s (DDC) administration for failing to register their institution from Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), despite the lapse of six years.
The Parents Action Committee led by Qamar ul Hassan, Najeeb Ashraf, Dr. Ammad and others stated that, the future their children’s education seems uncertain, as DDC failed to affiliate with PMDC, which would cause trouble in registering graduate’s practicing licenses and their degrees would be invalid and worthless.
The administration of DDC, mislead the students and parents and the issue of registration rose when students applied for their house job at DDC’s teaching hospital. The parents claimed that the college’s principal also failed to help them and no progress was seen in this regard. The students also met with Vice Chancellor of DUHS but nothing could be done.
Dow International Dental College (DIDC) that was launched a year prior to DDC is recognized and registered with PMDC, but so far DDC is still waiting upon its turn and still isn’t stopping from enrolling students in their unregistered college.
The parents further explained that, in 2012, DDC’s tuition fees was Rs. 6,63,750 per year while in 2018 the annual fees is around Rs. 725,000. It is important to know that every year the college is sending the students’ PMDC registration forms with Rs. 2000 registration fees per student. PMDC made inspection of the college in 2012 and asked college to fix some minor issues. The college addressed and fixed those issues and informed PMDC in Nov 2013. The college also paid inspection fees of Rs. 700,000 to PMDC but yet the registration is pending which led students’ educational future and career in doubt.
DDC’s graduated doctors and students held a protest demonstration outside the Dow Dental College (DDC), to attain everyone’s attention and highlight the issue of great importance. The parents have also approached the Supreme Court of Pakistan and has demanded from the PMDC to register Dow Dental College, to save the future of their children. They will also be reaching out to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take action over this matter.
