Parents denying vaccination to kids to serve one-month jail term, fine

KARACHI: Sindh government has now made it mandatory for the parents to get their wards vaccinated, or face one-month jail term, along with Rs50,000 fine.

The new law prescribing the punishment has come into force in the province after Sidh Governor signed the Sindh Immunization and Epidemics Control Act 2023.

The law also declares propaganda against vaccination and immunization under the Act punishable with six-month imprisonment and a fine of Rs100,000, or both.

Under the law, the province will set up Sindh Electronic Immunization Registry, barring all the hospitals and institutions from issuing birth certificates without registering vaccinations.
