KARACHI: Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC) recently commemorated World Oral Health Day 2022.
Dr Ashraf, Head of Department, KMDC, Dr Sana, Associate Professor, KMDC, Dr Shazia, Assistant Professor, KMDC and Dr Mudassir, Assistant Professor, KMDC from the Department of Community Dentistry worked tirelessly with volunteers from final year dentistry, i.e., Fariha, Rija, and Mustafa, to make this event a huge success.
The event kicked off with a prophylaxis camp hosted by the Department of Community Dentistry, which included a free dental check-up for any walk-in patients during dental OPD time by the volunteers of final year dentistry.
The poster competition was the second key event; second-year dentistry students meticulously constructed the posters. Dr Shiraz Hussain, Vice-Principal KMDC, Dr Ashraf and Dr Sana graded the posters. The students were later awarded certificates.
The day's third event was an awareness walk within the KMDC grounds, where students and instructors carried posters and banners to raise awareness and promote the topic "Be Proud of Your Mouth."
Dr Ashraf also spoke to the press about the importance of oral health and how it affects one's overall health. The session ended with a shield distribution ceremony. A certificate of appreciation was also awarded to all the dedicated volunteers. Lastly, Dr Shiraz was also awarded a shield by the Head of the Community Dentistry Department.
The whole event was broadcasted live on Aaj tv, and take-home messages were recorded about oral health.
