GENEVA: Covid cases and related deaths have witnessed a decline globally, as per the World Health Organization (WHO).
WHO says nearly 2.3 million new Covid cases and around 15,000 deaths have been reported in the last 28 days (24 April-21 May) world over, showing a decrease of 21 percent and 17pc, respectively, compared to the previous 28 days (27 March-23 April).
However, the situation is mixed at the regional level, with rise in reported cases seen in the WHO African and Western Pacific regions and in deaths in the African, the Americas, South-East Asia, and Western Pacific regions.
As of 21 May 2023, over 766m confirmed cases and over 6.9m deaths have been reported globally.
