KARACHI- A state of the art Executive Dental Clinic was recently inaugurated by Wasim Akhtar, Mayor Karachi at Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC). Dr Syed Saif ur Rehman, Metropolitan Commissioner, Dr Salma Kausar, Senior Director medical services, Prof Dr Mahmood Haider, Principal College, faculty members and students were also present on this occasion.
While addressing the inaugural ceremony, Mayor Karachi said that Karachi had the right to get the one percent cess from the revenue collected in the city. He demanded that the KMC should be given an additional Rs 3 billion per annum in the head of cess.
“Sindh Government not giving resources and powers under the SLGA 2013, therefore I am now going to the court because now all problems are solved through these courts only,” said Wasim.
Mayor Karachi said that the provincial government was not interested in solving the problem of people. He said Karachi had not been getting the funds in accordance with the law.
He expressed his pleasure that in KMDC majority of students were female. This showed the progress and improvement of the country.
Prof Mahmood Haider said that they were encouraged by the presence of the Mayor Karachi on this important day in the history of KMDC.
