KARACHI: Alvi Dental Hospital, led by Dr Awab Alvi, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Smile Brands Inc. USA led by Dr Anas Athar to bring high-quality dentistry affordable across Pakistan. The new company formed is Inspire Dental Network which will work on Dental Support Organisations (DSOs), a concept unique to Pakistan.
The MoU was signed by Awab Alvi of Alvi Dental Hospital and Dr Anas Athar of Bringing Smiles Inc., which President Arif Alvi and First Lady Samina Arif Alvi witnessed in their private capacity.
The group was named Inspire Dental Network (Pvt.) Ltd (IDN) after the MoU between Alvi Dental Hospital and Bringing Smiles Inc., USA. IDN would improve oral health in Pakistan by opening up clinics across Pakistan. This is an excellent opportunity for the young graduates who struggle to find jobs in private dental clinics. The company will set up clinics, hire dentists, offer training. It will strive to standardise by implementing uniform procedures for dental treatment all over Pakistan while maintaining the highest hygiene standards.
This is welcoming news for the young dental surgeons from all over Pakistan as IDN promises to provide jobs and training to all those who join the network.
President Arif Alvi stressed the importance of dental hygiene while talking on the occasion. He said dentists should focus on the needs of society and the dental health of the masses instead of prioritising the financial gains.
He appreciated the agreement between Bringing Smiles Inc. USA and the Alvi Dental Hospital to ensure affordable and quality dentistry for the general public in the country. The president said the project would bring about 25 million dollars investment in the country and create opportunities for dental professionals.
Awab Alvi of Alvi Dental Hospital, while speaking on occasion, said the project was not initiated overnight. It results from extensive work and a vision he had since meeting an eye surgeon. The brief homework was done for this. He said multiple dental health clinics would be established under the agreement. He informed that Alvi Dental Hospital had been credited to provide top-quality dental care in the country.
Dr Anas Athar of Bringing Smiles Inc. said the project would bring 25 million dollars to Pakistan. He said approximately 90 per cent of Pakistan's population was suffering from some dental issues, which was a big challenge. Therefore, awareness regarding dental hygiene and health was needed to be created, he added. He said he contacted most of the leading dental practices in Karachi to explore joining hands and finally met Dr Awab, and since both shared a vision, the project will soon become a reality.
The first clinic is expected to be opened in March, for which space has already been acquired.
