KARACHI: The Continuing Dental Education (CDE) Department of Sir Syed College of Medical Sciences (SSCMS) recently conducted a lecture series and workshop on Ethics Implementation & Dental Prescription Writing. Students, faculty members and recent graduates attended the session.
Prof. Abdul Manan Shaikh, Head of Pharmacology Department, SSCMS, was invited as the chief guest. Moreover, Dr Zaad Ali Hashmi from Jinnah Sindh Medical Univesity and Dr Umaimah Muzzamil, General Manager, Ehad Healthcare, were the guest speakers. Platinum Pharmaceuticals Karachi and Colgate Pakistan also contributed to the event.
Prof. HR Sukhia, Principal, Dental College, SSCMS and Dr Syed Ali Raza, Chief Course Facilitator, SSCMS, led the sessions. They gave lectures followed by a hands-on interactive workshop.
The guest speakers discussed the importance of dental ethics amongst the dental and medical profession and highlighted the corrective measures and remedies. Furthermore, to write better prescriptions for the pharmacy, Dr Umaimah stressed the importance of correct dental prescriptions and showed how death could occur to patients with incorrect prescriptions and wrong medication dosage.
The event ended with lunch and certificate distribution.
