PESHAWAR: Khyber Medical University (KMU) has unveiled the results of the recently re-conducted test for admissions to medical and dental colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Khyber Medical University Peshawar announces the results of the MDCAT Test held on November 26, 2023. According to result six candidates clinched the top spot, securing an impressive 192 marks each, while three secured the second position with 191 marks. Two candidates secured the third position with 190 marks in the MDCAT test and overall success rate for the test reached an impressive 75 per cent.
Taimur Iqbal, Anam Khan, Aman Ullah, Muhammad Mutaal Azeem, Muhammad Asim Ayaz, and Haseeb Khan secured the first position with 192 marks each, Munneba Hassan, Sangeen Khan, and Zain Abid secured the second position with 191 marks, and Mussadiq Anwar and Muqtasid Khan achieved the third position with 190 marks. Mansoor Ali Khan secured 189 marks in the MDCAT test.
KMU, proudly reports that a total of 11 candidates achieved scores exceeding the coveted 190 marks milestone. Furthermore, an impressive cohort of 402 candidates demonstrated their prowess by securing marks ranging from 180 to 189. Additionally, a remarkable 2,982 candidates showcased their potential with scores in the range of 170 to 179.
It is indeed noteworthy that out of a vast pool of 46,000 candidates, an impressive 34,000 actively participated in the test, underscoring their commitment to pursuing a career in medicine. Regrettably, 11,300 candidates were unable to appear for the test due to unforeseen circumstances.
This momentous achievement by Khyber Medical University marks a significant milestone in the quest for excellence in medical education. It is imperative to highlight that the previous MDCAT test faced cancellation due to a Bluetooth-related scandal. Subsequently, the responsibility of conducting the test was transferred from ETA to Khyber Medical University, ensuring a fair and transparent assessment process.
The MDCAT test was held in 11 examination centers across seven regions of the province. Notably, the MDCAT exam has a total of 200 marks, with a minimum requirement of 110 marks for MBBS and 100 marks for BDS admissions. In the current test, a total of 21,206 (61%) candidates passed for MBBS admission, and 24,283 (70%) for BDS.
Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq, VC KMU, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the successful students, hailing them as the pride of the nation. He lauded the well-coordinated efforts between KMU, the provincial government, and security agencies, ensuring 100% transparency and merit. He also praised the contributions of late Ex Acting CM Mohammad Azam Khan and current Acting CM Justice (R) Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, along with other key officials and agencies.
