LAHORE: A team from the community and preventive dentistry department of the University College of Medicine and Dentistry (UCMD), the University of Lahore (UoL), organised a health camp at the Cornerstone School and College, Canal Gardens, Lahore.
The camp offered oral screening and eye check-up, along with evaluation of nutritional status of the students by a dietitian, who also provided them information on healthy eating.
Besides oral examination of the students, the camp also aimed at raising awareness among them regarding their health.
The UCMD team included house surgeons, accompanied by Assistant Professor Dr Khulood Tariq, and other faculty members of the department, including Dr Zunaira Iqbal, Dr Seema Shafeeq, Dr Naiha Muzamil and Dr Rayyan Sameer. They were welcomed by the school staff led by Ms Azeema Husnain, focal person, and a group of children.
The activity started with an interactive session with students on the importance of oral health and effects of different types of food on teeth, concluding with a demonstration of brushing methods and other oral hygiene measures. The participants were also given goody bags in collaboration with Colgate-Palmolive.
UDC Principal Prof Dr Riaz Ahmed Warraich appreciated HoD Dr Aroojul Hassan and his team for their efforts to provide community health services and pledged his support for such activities.-PR
