ISLAMABAD: The federal health ministry has announced that the two latest monkeypox patients detected in the country have also recovered from the viral infection.
A ministry spokesperson says both the patients admitted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) have tested negative for the virus.
Both patients, who had been detected after their arrival from Saudi Arabia in April, have also been discharged from the hospital, he says.
The spokesperson adds that so far Pakistan has registered five mpox patients, and all of them have recovered.
Monkeypox is a potentially fatal disease caused by a virus that is similar to the human smallpox virus.
It is transmitted from animals to humans and can also have human-to-human transmission through close contact.
