LAHORE: Akhtar Saeed Medical and Dental College (AMDC) organised week-long fun and sports activities as part of its Sports Week 2023 event that was participated by the BDS students of the institute with zeal and zest.
During the week the students took part in cricket, volleyball, badminton and basketball matches, besides Naat competitions, debates and enjoying Qawali night and great food.
The event was jointly inaugurated by Chairman Dr Farooq Saeed khan, chief guests and the members of the sports committee at a ceremony held at the main campus of the AMDC.
AMDC spokesperson says medicine is a highly-competitive and demanding education programme and holding extracurricular activities was necessary to addressing issues like academic burnout and for improving students’ mental health.
On the first day of the event, a theme walk was held in which BDS students participated and showcased their creative side. This was followed by a fun fair featuring food and fun activities stalls.
Annual Husn-e-qirat, Naat and debates (both Urdu and English) events were also held during the week at AMDC main campus auditorium, where winners were given prizes.
Annual Dramatics event held at AMDC canal campus featured a hilarious skit by BDS students which was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.
Similarly, the college hosted a gala night where students enjoyed wonderful music and live BBQ amid dance and song dedications to the faculty.
The event wrapped up with a wonderful session of Qawali that was a perfect closure.
On the last day of the sports week, a ceremony was held to award prizes to the winners and certificates to the runner-ups .
On the occasion, AMDC chairman appreciated the students’ spirit and participation in the sports week.
