KARACHI- Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) recently arranged an informative session, where the Sufi singer, musician, columnist, ambassador of culture, Mr Areeb Azhar was invited as the Guest Speaker.
Speaking at the Arag Auditorium, DUHS, Areeb Azhar expressed his views on the idea of truth and how it is adored by everyone He stressed upon speaking the truth and standing by it, to prevail justice in our society. He said, “One should not only speak against injustice, but also stand against it.”
Furthermore, Areeb Azhar spoke about his interest in Sufi-ism, and Sufi and Folk music. He informed the audience regarding the difference between both genres of music, and how Baba Bulleh Shah was the one to lay the foundation of Sufi music.
He enlightened the audience by naming famous poets and their work. He presented Sufi Kalams of Baba Bulleh Shah, Khwaja Farid and others on which the participants widely appreciated him.
Principal, Dow Medical College, Prof Dr. Kartar Dawani also addressed the audience at this event.
At the end of the program, Principal Professor Dr Kartar Dawani presented gifts and a shield to Areeb Azhar, whilst appreciating his efforts for spreading knowledge regarding our culture.
